Why IPAD 2 selling for more than MSRP on eBay and Amazon?

The MSRP for the 16GB WiFi IPAD 2 is $ 499. It can be purchased directly from Apple and in retail stores such as Best Buy for this price. But on sites like eBay.com and Amazon.com, the same version is selling for $ 600 or more. Why?

The very fact that the Tab is a two in one gadget means that in terms of pricing it has to position itself between the tablet and the mobile phone market. In the UK all major mobile phone networks will be selling it. These include Vodafone, Orange, T Mobile, O2, Virgin Mobile, and 3.

What this means for consumers is that the Tab, with its monthly contracts from network providers, will be more expensive than the iPad.

Most retailers are selling the sim free Galaxy Tab for £599.99. The cheapest retailers are Amazon and Carphone Warehouse which are selling it for £525. This is the same price as the lowest spec 3g version of the iPad, but far more expensive than the cheapest 16gb wifi iPad which retails for £429!

So is it worth the extra money?

As much as we love the Galaxy Tab, it seems very difficult to justify the extra cost. The main attraction is the fact it is a tablet computer, and paying extra to use it as a mobile phone seems a bit harsh.

So what do you recommend?

Rather than buying your Galaxy Tab from a traditional retailer, the best deals seem to be from websites such as www.freegalaxytab.com. By joining the site, taking a free trial with one of their advertisers, and recommending your friends to do likewise, you can earn yourself a free Galaxy Tab.
