Component or composite. Which is better?

I have an iPad and I want to buy and AV cable but I don't know which one to buy. Please help

Well component is significantly better then composite offering higher resolution.

The other option is to come off the VGA outputs which will even give you a higher resolution as the component output on the ipad is only 480p. The VGA offers 1920x1200 and with a up converter such as the one in the link can be up-scaled to 1080p. with a hdmi cable.

Few options, why Apple doesn't offer a hdmi output I will never understand but its a great piece none the less.
