Which should i buy, an Ipad or a notebook/ laptop?

soon i will be able to go to college classes in high school, as well as more advanced classes. When i saw ipads pages app i thought it was cool. I saw its more refined ipod, safari, and ibook apps and it seemed like a great work/ entertainment system. I was wondering if a regular laptop will fullfill my needs. The ipad is only around 538 with the cover, and a good laptop seems to be around 600, so if you can tell me if the ipad is as good as it seems or if i should just buy a conventional laptop.

P.s if you refer a laptop can you specify which is the best.

Laptop because why would you even bother geting ipad which does not even have flash ....laptop will give you some extrodinary features which ipad does not have...like typing and use of internet and apps....remember ipad is only good if you already have laptop or computer....what r u going to connect the ipad to sync with...and anywayz wait for one year and ipad is guarenteed to go down 100 dollars and with so many good features...like camera ...and flash...and things which are worth buying....for god sakes compare what you are getting for $538 (ipad) and a laptop which easily starts at $200....just compare and then you will have your answer right smack in the face...
